Our next gig is like our last in some ways – we are again joining forces with two other bands. This time the show will be a bit more traditional with each band taking the stage in series instead of in parallel. The lineup is:

James Cohen (flamenco guitar)
Tito Medina (Guatemala/Caribbean)
Semara Winangun (Balinese Gamelan)

And the details:
Sunday April 15, 2007, 7:30 – 9:30
Carleton University – Alumni Theatre
Cost: FREE — tickets are first come first served at the door

Hope to see you there!

Worlds Collide!

Filed under: Gigs — webmaster @ 10:34 pm

On February 25 musical worlds will collide! Semara Winangun is one third of a bill featuring the West African drumming and dancing of Akpokli and the stunning Sun Ra inspired sounds of Rakestar. The groups will play by themselves but the real fun will start when they come together for pieces like ‘Music From the Morning of the World of Tomorrow’. This show is not to be missed!

Here’s the great flyer put together by David Broscoe (click to see a larger version):
